Adam Farley (born 12 January 1980 in Liverpool, Merseyside) is an English footballer who currently plays for Formby. He is a defender.
He joined Everton as a schoolboy and was part of their 1998 FA Youth Cup winning team, he was man of the match in both legs of the final. Farley, a very talented centre back, was compared to Alan Hansen by Nick Barmby and was tipped by Colin Harvey to have an outstanding career. He made one first team appearance, coming on as a substitute against Derby County in February 1999 and was substitute at West Ham and Tottenham Hotspur. However in March 2000 he broke his cheekbone in an Under 19s match, and drifted further away from the first team, before being released in May 2000.[1]
He joined Altrincham in 2000, making 34 league appearances and scoring one goal for the club.[2] He joined Droylsden[3] at the start of the 2001/02 season, staying with them for three years. In late 2004 he joined Witton Albion.[4]
Farley returned to his home city of Liverpool at the start of the 2005/06 season, signing for Marine.[5]
In 2009, he and three of his former team-mates at Marine were found to have breached FA regulations after betting that their team would lose. Farley was fined £250 and banned from playing football for nine months.[6]
After a brief stint at Burscough at the start of 2010/11 season,[7] in October 2010 Farley signed for Leigh Genesis.[8] In December he moved with team-mate John Lawless to Formby.[9] The pair only played in two games before manager Gary Martindale and the entire first team resigned in January 2011.[10] Farley and Lawless were swiftly signed by Burscough.[11]
